No! International drivers licenses (permit) are valid in countries such as Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean where passports are not even required for non-business travel. Once you receive your international drivers license (permit) you can write in the passport number on the international drivers license (permit) after receiving your license back from us.

What form does an international drivers license (permit) come in?
International drivers license (permit) are issued in booklet form. There are translation pages inside. The translation pages are the reason international drivers licenses (permit) were created. Plastic identification cards licenses are not acceptable.  

Is an international drivers license (permit) valid alone without a regular drivers license? 
International drivers license (permit) are never valid alone or in the country of issue.

Do I have to take a test to qualify for an international drivers license (permit)?
No! Your drivers license from your home state or country confirms your ability and your right to drive abroad. However, it is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with the rules of the road when driving abroad and conform strictly with the local laws and regulations in which you are traveling in.
